Description

The Lodge is a lodge cottage dating from approximately 1850, situated at the entrance to Curzon Park. It is built of painted brick with stone dressings, and has a grey slate hipped roof with lead flashings. The building comprises two storeys with a small hip-roofed wing extending to each side; a more recent, single-storey flat-roofed wing is located at the rear and is largely hidden from view. A brick plinth runs along the base, and the central recessed front window, on the ground floor, is a sash window with 5 panes in its upper section and 4 panes in its lower section. Each wing has a replaced casement window with 6 panes. A string course runs across the building, beneath a pediment above the central ground-floor window. Above this, a substantial cornice sits beneath a continuous lintel to three first-floor casement windows, each divided by small square piers. The casements have moulded capitals and faces to the arches. A moulded string-course is present beneath a decorative frieze of three brick courses, topped by an eaves cornice. A projecting chimney is located on the right side of the building, and there are three blind round arches to the left side and rear of the first floor. A modern door is situated on the right side of the rear wing. The interior has not been inspected.
