Description
This is a milepost located approximately 450 metres south of Overleigh Roundabout. It was made around 1900 and is constructed from cast iron. The milepost features a plinthed, tapered octagonal design by RT Smith of Whitchurch, Shropshire. It has a shaped cast-iron plate that is inscribed in raised capitals with the words "CHESTER CROSS; 1 MILE." Similar mileposts were installed by Chester City Council along other main roads leading to Chester.
