Description
This is a canal milepost located on the Trent and Mersey Canal, dating from 1819 and made of cast iron. It features a tapered circular stem that is inscribed with "R and D Stone 1819." The milepost has a curved plate that reads "SHARDLOW 90 MILES : PRESTON BROOK 2 MILES," with all lettering presented in raised Roman capitals. The milepost is topped with a domed cap.
