Description
Dutton Dock is a covered dry dock, likely built in 1777, located on the east side of the Trent and Mersey Canal. It features a shed and store-room constructed by the London and North Western Railway Company in the late 19th century. The dock has a brick floor and stone-coped brick walls. Inside, there are cast iron columns resting on stone bases, with one or two columns replaced in concrete. The shed showcases ornate vertically boarded sidings and a front gable, designed in the style of the London and North Western Railway. The roof is made of corrugated iron and supported by seven timber kingpost trusses. At the rear of the dock, there is a blue brick store room that includes a small chimney.
