Description

This is a canal milepost located on the Trent and Mersey Canal, dated "R & D Stone 1819" on its shaft. The milepost is made of cast iron and is painted black and white. It features a circular shape with a moulded head and has embossed letters on two convex tablets below, indicating "Shardlow 66 miles" and "Preston Brook 26 miles."
