Description
The Cottage is a 17th-century house located on Knutsford Road in Rode Heath. It features a timber-framed structure with whitewashed brick infill and a plain tile roof. The front of the house has five by three cells of small framing, with two 2-light windows and one single-light window on the ground floor. Above, there is a flat-roofed dormer window with four lights, all of which are from the 20th century.
To the right, slightly recessed, is a 20th-century lean-to made of whitewashed brick, which includes a 2-light window. The right gable end has this lean-to on its lower body, while the timber-framed gable above features a central brick chimney stack with two flues and single-light windows on either side. The left gable end has brick walling on the lower body, with five cells of small framing above and timber framing in the gable. There is a single-light window on the ground floor to the left, a mezzanine window in the center, and another single-light window on the first floor to the left. Extending to the left is a low 20th-century wing with cambered window openings.
