Description

Moor's Farmhouse is a 17th-century farmhouse located off Church Lane in Scholar Green. The building features a rendered timber frame with brick infill, showcasing both English garden wall bond and Flemish bond brickwork, topped with a plain tile roof.

On the entrance front, to the right, is the timber-framed section consisting of two bays, which includes two 3-light 19th-century casement windows on the first floor and two similar windows on the ground floor. There is a plank door with a 19th-century gabled porch positioned left of center. To the left, there is a section of late 18th-century Flemish bond walling with blue vitrified headers, which has been extended with 19th-century English garden wall bond brickwork, featuring 3-light casement windows on both floors. The right gable end has a central brick chimney stack. The ground floor is constructed of 20th-century brick, while the first floor jetties out, with the timbers obscured by pebbledash render. The jettied gable above has a single-light attic window on the left. There is a 20th-century outshut on the right at ground floor level.

At the rear, the ground floor has 20th-century brickwork with a lean-to on the right and three 2-light casement windows. The first floor also jetties out, featuring a single-light window with three panes by two panes on the right and a 2-light casement window on the left.

Inside, the ground floor rooms have ovolo-moulded ceiling beams with ogee end stops and a small-framed dividing wall with tension braces. The doors are plank style with strap hinges. The staircase consists of six flights with an open well, square newels topped with concave finials supporting faceted balls, and similar drops beneath the newels. One surviving splat baluster has moulded edges that indicate the original pattern. Wall posts in one first-floor room have ovolo-moulded edges and moulded consoles that support ovolo-moulded ceiling beams. The roof features two purlins and a ridge with wind bracing.
