Description
Post Office-Holly Cottage is a pair of cottages built in 1863 for the 2nd Marquis of Westminster. They are constructed of brown brick and feature grey slate gabled roofs. Each cottage has 1½ storeys and 2 bays, forming an L-shape, with the shorter arm facing Kinnerton Road and the longer arm facing the Square. Three gabled half dormers are visible from the Square. The lower storey openings have flat gauged brick arches. No. 2 retains iron lattice casements set in timber sub-frames, while No. 1 has 4-pane timber casements and a small hipped bay window in the gable facing Kinnerton Lane, all in unaltered openings. The interiors have not been inspected. The cottages around the Square, including Nos. 3-4 and 5-6, create a small formal layout, which is unusual for the Eaton Estate.
