Description

The lychgate at St Mary's Churchyard dates from the late 19th century and is likely the work of architect John Douglas. It features an oak frame set on a sandstone plinth and has a half-hipped roof made of Westmorland slate, topped with a red tile ridge. The structure is complemented by contemporary quadrant wing walls made of coursed red sandstone, which have steeply weathered flush copings. The roof is supported by jowled posts.
