Description
These are a pair of cottages built in 1899 for the 1st Duke of Westminster, located on Kinnerton Road in Dodleston. They are constructed of red brick, featuring a band at the first floor and blue diapering above. The cottages have a red tile roof with a central chimney that has separate flues made of spiral moulded brickwork. They are designed with 1½ storeys and 1½ bays, each cottage having an end gable and a smaller projecting gable at the front, which is partly rendered. The cottages have three-light mullioned windows in moulded brick for the parlour and front bedrooms, and one-light windows on the lower storey on either side. Each light contains a 3-pane iron casement. The entrance to No.3 is located at the end, while No.4 has its entrance moved to the back. The cottages are part of a formal layout that includes Nos. 1-2 and 5-6 The Square. The interiors have not been inspected.
