Description

The guidepost located at the northern corner of the junction with Budworth Lane in Great Budworth is a late 19th-century cast iron structure. It features an octagonal post set on a plinth, inscribed with "CCC" on a raised shield. The maker's name is currently illegible on the plinth. The guidepost has plates with raised margins, pecked corners, and lettering in raised sans serif font, which read "STRETTON & WARRINGTON," "GREAT BUDWORTH," "NORTHWICH," "COMBERBACH 3/4," and "RUNCORN 11." Additional plates, matching in style, are bolted above the main inscriptions. The guidepost is topped with an ornate ball finial and is included for its group value.
