Description

Two cottages, probably dating from the 17th century, with later 19th-century alterations for Rowland Egerton Warburton. They are constructed of brown brick with a clay tile roof. The cottages are one storey in height, with attics, and feature two windows each. A band of brick runs along the first floor level. A boarded door is situated within a basket-arched recessed porch at number 11. Each cottage has a single casement window with three 2-pane lights in the lower storey, and three-light casements in two small gabled dormers. A brick chimney on the ridge has a plinth and a shaped stack, characteristic of the Arley estate. The entrance to number 10 is at the rear. The interiors have been largely altered, although a few oak beams remain visible in number 11. The cottages are included on the list for their group value.
