Description

7 The Mount is a 17th-century shippon that was later converted into a cottage in the late 19th century for Rowland Egerton Warburton. The building features a brick-nogged oak frame and brick construction, topped with a clay tile roof. It is a single storey structure, with its roof running parallel to The Mount and High Street. The layout includes two rooms and an outshut with one room facing High Street. The east gable end and the north side, which faces High Street, display mid-17th century oak small framing, while the south side is partly oak frame and partly rebuilt in brick. The building has a sandstone and brick plinth and a ridge chimney with two attached diagonal flues. Inside, there are a pair of full crucks that are partly concealed in the party wall with No. 8 The Mount.
