Description

No. 8 The Mount is a stable dating from the 17th century that was later converted into a cottage in the late 19th century for Rowland Egerton Warburton. The building is constructed of brown brick in English garden wall bond and features a clay tile roof. It has one and a half storeys plus an attic and consists of two rooms with a gable facing the street. There is a three-light mullioned leaded window on the High Street side, some old brickwork, and an oak-framed gable typical of the Arley estate. A plinthed chimney with three flues is located on the ridge. There is also a mid-20th century one-room extension that is in keeping with the original structure. Inside, the building retains two cruck blades and two chamfered oak beams.
