Description
This is a house, now divided into two separate dwellings, located on Brook Lane in Knutsford. It was originally built in 1742, with later additions made at an unspecified date. The building is constructed of brick with a Welsh slate roof.
The house has two storeys and originally had a two-window front. A central doorway is marked by a simple architrave topped with a shell hood. A small plaque above the doorway displays the date 1742 and the initials ‘PK’. The original windows were three-light casement windows with transoms, each set within a deep, cambered brick surround. Brick stacks are located on the end walls.
Internally, the house is now split to the right of the main doorway, and has been extended on both sides. Some original features remain, including a panelled fire cupboard door with H-hinges on the ground floor left, and a splat baluster staircase, which appears to have been reconstructed in a later wing.
