Description

This is a house, now divided into two separate dwellings, located on Church Lane in Snaith and Cowick. It dates to the 18th century, with later alterations. Constructed of brick, the exterior is rendered. The roof is covered in pantiles. The building follows a central lobby-entry plan, with two rooms on each side, and originally had a continuous rear outshut. An entrance was later inserted into the right side of the building, creating access to number 11.

The two-storey building has two windows on the first floor. It features a plinth and a step leading to a six-panel door within an architrave. Above the door is a plain stuccoed panel topped with a raised ashlar keystone. The ground floor windows are twelve-pane flush sashes with sills and keystones. A 20th-century door is located to the right. A band runs across the first floor. A small oval ashlar tablet with a moulded surround is set into the front elevation. The first floor features a 19th-century four-pane sash in a wooden architrave to the left, and a 20th-century casement window within the original opening to the right. The building is finished with a dentilled brick eaves cornice. A central chimney stack in a cross shape has cornices.

Inside number 11, there is an inglenook fireplace, chamfered ceiling beams, and exposed joists. The interior of the other dwelling has not been fully investigated.
