Description

The parish boundary stone, dated 1822, is located on the north side of Buxton New Road in Rainow. It is a semi-circular headed block made of sandstone, featuring the inscription "M 1822" (indicating Macclesfield) clearly carved on its west face. This stone is one of several identical markers that delineate the boundary between Rainow and Macclesfield Forest. A portion of this stone is situated within the former Macclesfield Urban District.
