Description

Lark Hall Yard comprises a row of three houses, originally built as stabling, likely in the late 18th century and converted into dwellings in the mid-19th century. The houses are constructed with brick on a stone plinth, and have a stone-flagged roof. The design incorporates a two-storey, four-window range, with the outer bays projecting forward, and the roof extending as a substantial overhang above the recessed central section. The central house has a two-room plan and a central entrance accessed via a gabled lattice-work porch with a plank door set within a stone architrave. This is flanked by two 25-pane cast-iron windows, each with small opening lights and flat arches. The doorways to the outer houses are situated on the inner faces of the projecting end bays, each with a plank door in a stone architrave. Two-pane sash windows are found in the right-hand unit; the left-hand unit features a blind, round-arched recess. The principal facade of the left-hand house faces the garden. Beneath the overhanging roof, a series of nesting boxes for doves have been built into the soffits of the eaves. There are two axial stacks.
