Description

The parish boundary stone, dated 1849, is located on the dam wall at SJ 9329 7372 in Hurdsfield. It is made of ashlar sandstone and features a semi-circular head. The south side of the stone is inscribed with "M1849," while the north side has "H1849," indicating the boundary between Macclesfield and Hurdsfield. An identical stone can be found at SJ 9316 7373. Part of this stone is situated within the former Macclesfield Urban District.
