Description

This is a parish boundary stone dated 1849, located on the dam wall at the coordinates SJ 9316 7373. It is made of ashlar sandstone and features a semi-circular head. The south face of the stone is inscribed with "M1849," while the north face displays "H1849," indicating the boundary between Macclesfield and Hurdsfield. An identical stone can be found nearby at SJ 9328 7372. Part of this stone is situated within the former Macclesfield Urban District.
