Description
The Church of the Holy Trinity is a parish church built between 1837 and 1838 by William Hayley. It is constructed from well coursed and squared stone, topped with a slate roof, and designed in the Commissioners' Gothic style. The church features a single span roof, an integral west tower, and a shallow chancel. The west tower includes a doorway with paired lancet windows above it, along with a clock set in a lozenge panel. The upper stage of the tower has paired bell chamber lights and is adorned with a parapet and angle pinnacles. The nave is divided into four bays by narrow buttresses, each featuring stepped lancet windows. The chancel is very shallow and has a Decorated 5-light window. The interior has been largely refitted and includes a single span with a west organ gallery that is screened off below. Chancel fittings, including the reredos, were installed in 1939, and the east window contains late 19th-century figurative stained glass.
