Description

Bridge Number 38 is a road bridge over the Macclesfield Canal, built in 1831 by engineer William Crosley. It is constructed from roughly coursed and squared Kerridge stone, with smaller blocks laid above the parapet. The bridge is skewed and features a segmental archway, with the voussoirs and keystones covered in cement. It has a slightly raking string course and a parapet that follows the slope of the road bed. The bridge also includes projecting terminal piers topped with flat stone copings.
