Description
The bridge over the Macclesfield Canal, known as Bridge Number 41 at Richmond Hill, was built in 1831 and is possibly a tramroad bridge designed by engineer William Crosley. It is constructed from roughly coursed and squared Kerridge stone, with smaller blocks positioned above the string course. The bridge features a segmental archway made up of voussoirs and a keystone, with a steep slope of the road bed that is mirrored in the slope of the parapet above the string course. The terminal piers are topped with shallow stone coping.
