Description

33, 35 and 37 Blakelow Road is a group of three houses, largely built in the early 19th century. They are constructed of red brick, stucco, and render, topped with stone-flagged roofs. The buildings are three storeys high and form a range that runs parallel to the street, with a rear wing from which a further range (No. 37) projects.

The street-facing elevation features a central doorway to the left of No. 33, flanked by 16-pane sash windows. The eastern return, which is the rear of No. 35, has a three-window range with tripartite and 16-pane sash windows on the ground floor, and 16-pane sashes above, with the central window being blind. The attic storey has 12-pane sashes. No. 37 is set back and has a two-window range, with tripartite windows on each side of a central doorway that includes a radial fanlight, and 12-pane sash windows above.

There is a moulded stone eaves cornice that continues across the rear of No. 35. The front of No. 35 faces west and features two late 19th-century canted oriel windows on the second storey, which have plain sashes. To the right, there is a single-storey lean-to bay with Chinoiserie trellis and carved wood spindles, along with a wood modillion eaves cornice. The buildings have axial and end wall stacks.
