Description

Bridge Number 39 over the Macclesfield Canal, located off Black Road, was built in 1831 and designed by engineer William Crosley. The bridge is constructed from roughly coursed and squared rubble, featuring smaller blocks above a string course. It has an elliptical archway made up of voussoirs and a keystone. The bridge includes a raking parapet that follows the slope of the road bed, along with a string course, stone copings, and projecting terminal piers.
