Description
New Inn Farmhouse is a former inn that has been converted into a farmhouse, dating from the early 19th century. The building features a partly rendered exterior made of coursed squared buff sandstone rubble, topped with a Kerridge stone-slate roof and two stone chimneys. It is two stories high with a symmetrical three-bay front. There is a slight plinth and a band at the level of the first-floor window sills. The end bays are fitted with 12-pane sash windows that have horns above. The entrance is marked by a semi-circular headed reeded doorcase, which has a rosette on the keystone. Above the door is a fanlight with radial glazing bars, leading to a 20th-century glazed door. This farmhouse was likely built as an inn along the New Buxton turnpike established in 1821.
