Description
Swanley Lock Number 2 on the Llangollen Branch of the Shropshire Union Canal was built in 1805 by engineer J. Fetcher, with consultation from T. Telford. The lock is constructed from blue and red bricks in English Bond. The south (upper) gate is made of metal, while the north (lower) gates are wooden and feature wooden beams. The approach walls have stone copings, although the lock side copings are now primarily made of concrete blocks.
