Description
Pear Tree Farmhouse is a mid-17th century farmhouse featuring a brick nogged timber frame. Originally thatched, it now has a corrugated metal roof. The building stands two storeys high and consists of four bays, including an additional brick bay on the south side. The walls have ten irregular panels with a single middle-rail and long angle braces supporting the wallplate. The windows have been replaced with flush casements that include glazing bars, and there is a boarded door set in a heavy oak frame. An old fire-insurance plate featuring Atlas is also present. At the rear of the farmhouse, the original timbers are concealed by a full-length lean-to roofed with large slates, which turns 90 degrees across the gable of the added brick bay to the south. A three-board-deep fascia hides the remaining thatch. The original gable ends feature stacks. Inside, there are bevelled beams and exposed ceiling joists, while the inglenook fireplace has been blocked.
