Description

Swanley Bridge Number 8 is a public road bridge built around 1793, located over the Llangollen Branch of the Shropshire Union Canal. It is constructed from engineering bricks with an added surface treatment. The bridge features splayed out abutments and a semi-circular arch, along with a one brick deep projecting carriageway level ring. There is stone and concrete replacement edging to the canal beneath the arch, but no paving is present. The approach walls have splayed parapets, and the carriageway is humped with rounded stone parapet copings and rounded return ends on the pier caps.
