Description
Hurleston Bridge Number 1 is a public road bridge that crosses the Llangollen Branch of the Shropshire Union Canal. It was built around 1805 by engineer J. Fetcher, with Thomas Telford as a consultant. The bridge is constructed from engineering bricks in English Bond and features a semi-circular arch that is one brick deep, with splayed out abutments and a stone springer at water level. Beneath the arch, there is brick tow path paving. The bridge has a projecting brick carriageway band, and the approach parapets are splayed out with rounded stone copings and four-way rounded pier caps.
