Description
Cuckoo Cottage and The Cottage are two cottages from the late 17th century, with some alterations made in the 20th century. They feature brick nogged timber framing and brickwork, with asbestos-cement sheeting covering thatch. The buildings are single storey with an attic and consist of four bays, including a projecting gable on the west side that forms a "T" shaped plan. The timber framing has fairly close studding, a single middle rail, and angle braces, with some timbers simulated in cement-mortar. The cottages mainly have flush casements, although the east cottage has 20th-century replacements. There are attic windows in gabled dormers and at the gable ends, along with replaced entrance doors. Inside, the west cottage has bevelled beams and exposed joists, while the east cottage has been significantly altered and is of no particular interest.
