Description

HURLESTON C.P. LLANGOLLEN BRANCH OF THE SJ 65 NW SHROPSHIRE UNION CANAL 1/75 Hurleston Lock No.2 - GV II

Canal lock, circa '1805 by J.Fetcher, Engineer. (Consultant T.Telford). Engineering bricks in English Bond with metal gates. The upper single and lower pair of metal gates are marked with a 1974 replacement date. Some sandstone dressing to the lock approach walls but the lock-side edgings now replaced in concrete blocks.
