Description
Baddiley Lock Number 2 is a canal lock on the Llangollen Branch of the Shropshire Union Canal, built in 1805 by engineer J. Fletcher, with consultation from Thomas Telford. The structure is constructed from blue and red brick in English Bond, featuring stone dressing. It has a single, replaced metal upper (south) gate, along with some old winding gear. The pair of wooden gates and beams on the north side were replaced in 1958. The swept approach walls and lock side walls retain most of their original stone dressings.
