Description
Sparrows Roost is a cottage dating from the late 17th century, with some alterations and additions. It features a brick nogged timber frame and originally had a thatched roof, which has since been replaced with corrugated metal sheeting. The building has two storeys and two bays, with an added brick lean-to on the west gable. There is a high brick plinth, and while the timber framing is now only visible on the facade and rear, the east gable still has planted timbers. The cottage retains one original passing brace in the rear south-west corner. The windows have been replaced with flush casements that are slightly set forward. The entrance includes a half-glazed bolection moulded four-panel door with external lining, and there is a central chimney stack. Inside, the cottage features bevelled beams and exposed ceiling joists.
