Description

This is an early 17th-century farmhouse. It is constructed of whitewashed brick and timber framing, with a roof covered in old tiles. The building has a gabled, almost cross-shaped plan. It is two storeys high with an attic, featuring a three-bay front facing east, a three-bay front facing north, and a single-bay front facing west. Blank wings extend north and south from the main body of the house. The west gable has timber that has been replaced with softwood. The east gable features a built-up mullion window and a three-light leaded lattice window on the first floor. The north gable is jettied and plastered, retaining its original three-light leaded casement window. The south gable is also jettied and plastered with a small casement window and flush casements within the wings. The gables have bargeboards. A large, square central chimney stack is a prominent feature.

Inside, the house has ovolo-moulded and bevelled beams, exposed ceiling joists, and a large inglenook fireplace. There are wide, boarded oak doors with strap hinges. Significant timberwork is visible within the internal walls. The front door, on the east side, is made of oak and is divided into three vertical panels by applied beads, sheltered by a shallow-pitched hood. The side entrance on the south side is made of softwood boards and has false strap hinges.
