2/4 Nos. 2 & 4 (Heywood's).

Formerly farmhouse and barn, now 2 houses: house C17, barn early C18 all with mid Cl9'alterations. Coursed squared buff sandstone rubble. Kerridge stone-slate roof, stone ridge and 5 brick chimneys. Former farmhouseto right of 2-storeys and 3-bays. End bays have 3-light wooden casements under chamfered lintels. Projecting rubble band at 1st floor. Upper windows in original gabled half-dormers with plain barge boards. Door behind C20 open stone gabled porch. Decorative running vine leadwork on eaves between dormers. Interior: Internal cross-passage with main room to left'and pair of rooms to right. Main room has fine fixed court or bread cupboard to left of fireplace. Ceiling beams are chamfered. Timber framed partition walls (now hidden) and roof structure intact.

To left is converted barn. Rectangular plan with partial outshuts to rear. Irregular 2-storey, 3-bay front. Left end bay shows part of original barn with 6-pane window and rubble modillions at eaves. Other 2 bays have gabled half dormers with 3-light wooden casements above and 2 casements and a door below. To rear 2-storey element under gable has loading bay and arm in upper storey.
