Description
Moss Cottage is a building that was originally a barn or stables, dating from the 18th century, with some alterations made in the 20th century. It is constructed of coursed squared buff sandstone rubble and features a Kerridge stone-slate roof, stone ridge, and two brick chimneys. The building has a long rectangular plan and is two stories high, with a formerly symmetrical three-bay front. The central bay projects slightly and is topped by a low plain pediment, which has a blocked doorway with a large brick-edged circular light above it. The end bays contain three-light wooden casements set under plain lintels, with an inserted door at the right end. Inside, some exposed timbers date back to the 18th century, but the unusual layout does not confirm its original use. The building is listed for its group value only.
