Description

The eastern block of the farm courtyard at Tanyard Farm is a farm building from the 18th century, currently used for milling meal and as a piggery. It is constructed of red English garden wall bond brick and features a slate roof. The building has two storeys divided into two halves. On the courtyard front, there are barn doors to the right and two stable doors to the left. The left gable end includes small framing with small cruciform breathers.

Inside, the roof trusses create six bays and incorporate some 17th-century timbers. The westernmost truss includes a tie beam, arch braces, queen posts, and a yolk. The next truss has a tie beam, king post, diagonal braces, and arch braces. There is small framing in the gable of the dividing wall. The truss to the east has a tie beam, king post, and strapped joints, with a light collar beam connecting them. The easternmost truss features a tie beam, queen struts, and arch braces.
