Description
Sycamore Cottage is a house dating from the 17th century, with additions from the 19th century. It features a timber frame with brick infill and a stone slate roof. The building has a baffle-entry two-cell plan and is two storeys high. The north entrance front displays small framing with an arch brace in the left-hand upper corner. The right gable has v-struts and close-studding, along with projecting purlins and ridge plates. The lower edge of the gable tie-beam has slightly projecting and ovolo moulded chamfering. There is a porch, likely from the 19th century, supported by round wooden columns with roll-moulded capitals and square stone footings, which holds up a gabled roof. The east side features close studding in the gable. Inside, there is some small framing, chamfered end-stopped ceiling beams in the parlour, and an inglenook with a plain-stopped chamfered bressumer.
