Description
Ashley Hall Farm is a farmhouse dating from the late 16th century to early 17th century, with additions from the 18th and 19th centuries. It is constructed of brick and rendered brick, with timber framing at the right end, and features a slate roof. The entrance front is two storeys high and consists of five bays, with the central bay being recessed. The brickwork is whitewashed and sits on a painted plinth, likely made of stone. The 19th-century wood casement windows have moulded brick surrounds and mullions. The central bay includes a recessed porch, and both the central bay and the wings have gables with visible purlins and ridge beams. The right side of the building has been exposed following the demolition of a 17th-century and 18th-century range. A 16th-century chimney shaft and stack, which abuts the wall, features three linked diamond-shaped flues. Close-studding and herringbone timbering are visible at the first-floor level. There is one pointed Gothick window with interlacing glazing bars that has been reset from the demolished 18th-century range. Inside, there is a staggered 19th-century staircase that features a 17th-century balustrade with flat balusters that have heart-shaped piercings. The ceiling beams have moulded hollow chamfering, and there are further chamfered beams in the current drawing room that are encased.
