Description
These farm buildings, located approximately 3 metres south of Pickford Farmhouse, date from the 17th and 18th centuries. They are constructed of brick and feature tile roofs, arranged around three sides of a square. On the south side, there are two barns; the western barn is likely from the 17th century and has a lower roof. The right side of its front wall is timber-framed with square panels and brick infill, while the rest of the wall is made of later brick and includes a narrow doorway. Adjacent to it is an 18th-century barn that has a wide doorway on the left side of its facade. The right side features the gable wall of the eastern range, which has a first-floor pitching hole. The western range, which connects at the back of the western barn, is a single storey and is timber-framed with square panels and brick infill, supported by short straight braces to the wall-plate. Inside, the western range contains trusses with tie-beams, queen struts, and collars. The western barn has one truss with paired raking struts and another with a tie-beam, collar, and raking struts. The eastern barn features a truss with a tie-beam and raking struts, but shows no evidence of timber-framing.
