Description
Herberts Farm Barn and Brindleys Barn are 17th-century barn and farm buildings that were enlarged and cased in brick around 1800. They feature a combination of timber-framing and brick, topped with a tiled roof. The north wall has a wide doorway on the left, with two diamond-shaped ventilators to its right. Further right, there are two doorways with arched heads and a window. On the left side, there is a two-storey stable block made of brick and timber-framing, with the ground floor mostly covered in weatherboarding. The gable of the stable block reveals an exposed truss with vertical struts above the tie-beam. The left-hand gable wall of the barn showcases framing in square panels and V-struts above the collar. Adjoining the west end of the south wall is a brick range of cow sheds that features king-post trusses. Inside, the truss east of the cart entrance has two pairs of raking struts, while the truss to the west contains re-used timber and has two curved struts.
