Description
Dormer Cottage is a house that likely dates from the mid-17th century, with an additional right-hand bay. It features timber framing, mostly covered by pebbledash, and has a tiled roof. The building is one storey high with an attic and consists of three bays. The windows are 20th-century casements, with two located on the ground floor in the left-hand bay. There are three gabled attic dormers, and the door in the middle bay is sheltered by a 20th-century porch. Gable chimneys are present. An exposed roof truss in the left-hand gable wall shows struts between the tie-beam and collar. Inside, the left-hand room has an inglenook, a chamfered spine beam, and exposed joists. A timber-framed wall between the second and third bays has external weathering on its right-hand face, indicating that the right-hand bay is an addition. In the attic, the roof trusses are similar to the one visible in the left-hand gable.
