Description
Sherbourne House Farmhouse is a house that likely dates from the early 17th century and was altered in the 19th century. It features a combination of brick and timber-framing, with pebble-dashed surfaces on the south and east sides, topped by a tiled roof. The building stands two storeys high.
On the south side, there are two projecting one-bay wings flanking a recessed one-bay centre. The windows are 19th-century casements that include glazing bars and timber mullions. A chimney is located on the left-hand return wall, which has one bay on each side of a single-storey sandstone ashlar porch, adorned with rusticated pilasters. Above the porch, set under a gable, is a small window.
The north wall consists of three bays, showcasing exposed timber-framing arranged in square panels with brick infill. On the ground floor, the right-hand window is a casement with leaded glazing, while the left-hand first-floor window features a carved oak bracket that supports a renewed oriel. The roof trusses include tie-beams, collars, and v-struts.
