Description

Tanyard Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the 17th century, with additions from the 18th century. It is constructed of brick and rendered brick, topped with a slate roof. The building has a through-passage plan and stands two storeys tall. The entrance front is symmetrical and features three bays in rendered brick, with a central classical porch that has a pediment supported by Tuscan columns. There is a modillion cornice, an open pediment, and a semicircular fanlight above the porch. The windows are three-light, with ovolo-moulded brick surrounds and mullions, fitted with casement windows. Inside, there is a 17th-century parlour located at the rear of the house, which has ovolo-moulded chamfered ceiling beams and a large hearth. The hearth features an ovolo-moulded chimney bressumer that is supported by lateral bead-moulded beams and posts.
