Description
Close Farmhouse is a farmhouse dated 1782, built from coursed sandstone with a stone slate roof featuring stone gutter brackets and gable chimneys made of brick. The building has kneelers at the rear topped with ball finials. It has a two-bay double-pile plan and stands two storeys high with a symmetrical design. The exterior includes rusticated quoins and bands at three levels: at the heads of the ground floor windows, at the sills, and at the heads of the first floor windows. The doorway has a plain surround and a damaged glasshouse porch, while there are two sash windows on each floor, each with glazing bars and three panes in each leaf. Attached to the left side is a single-storey lean-to made of random rubble, which has been mostly altered but still shows remains of flush-mullioned windows, possibly from a loomshop.
