Description
This building, located at 93 Grainger Street, is a Grade II listed structure dating from around 1835, likely designed by John Wardle for Richard Grainger. It consists of shops and houses, currently used as shops and offices, and features sandstone ashlar construction. The building is four storeys high and has 31 bays.
The ground-floor shops have been altered, and there is an entrance to Nun's Lane to the right of No. 18. The projecting end bays have architraves around the sash windows, with pediments on the first-floor windows. The central 7-bay section has two bays that project slightly at each end, also featuring architraves for the sash windows, with cornices on the first floor. The remaining windows are sashes set in plain reveals, and all second-floor windows have paired brackets supporting their moulded sills. A band runs along the second floor of the plain sections, and there is a second-floor entablature with a blocking course above the pavilions.
