Description

This is a row of shops and houses, now shops and offices, dating to approximately 1837. It was probably designed by John Wardle for Richard Grainger. The building is constructed of sandstone ashlar, with the roof hidden from view. It comprises four storeys and fifteen bays. The ground floor has been altered. The upper floors retain windows with plain reveals; some have been altered, while others are sash windows with glazing bars. A sill band and entablature featuring a prominent cornice runs across the second floor. The top floor is defined by a cornice and a blocking course. An office entrance from around 1900 was added to number 94.
