Description

This is a row of houses and shops, now retail premises, dating to around 1837 and likely designed by John Wardle for Richard Grainger. The building is constructed of sandstone ashlar with a roof that is not visible. It comprises four storeys and three bays per property, for a total of seven bays. The shop fronts are of 20th-century origin. The windows are predominantly sash windows, some with glazing bars, set in plain reveals. A decorative band is present at the second-floor level, accompanied by a prominent cornice. The building is finished with a top cornice.
