Description
Shops and houses, now shops, dating to approximately 1837 and likely designed by John Wardle for Richard Grainger. The building is constructed of sandstone ashlar with a roof that is not visible. It is four storeys high and comprises 17 bays. The ground floor has been altered. The windows are sash windows, some with glazing bars, set in plain reveals. Bracketed sills are present on the second floor. Between the projecting end bays, a first-floor band is visible. A second-floor entablature features a prominent cornice, and there is an eaves band and top cornice.
